If you’re looking to bring home a Porsche with full or partial electrification, you have plenty of options to consider for the current model year. The 2023 Porsche Taycan is an all-electric sports car with seriously impressive powertrain options, while the 2022 Porsche Panamera E-Hybrid is a plug-in hybrid vehicle that offers ample power, a short all-electric driving range, and versatility that the Taycan can’t quite match. Ready to find the model that’s right for you? Our Porsche Taycan vs. Panamera E-Hybrid matchup has all the details.

Electrified Performance: Porsche Taycan vs. Panamera

The 2023 Porsche Taycan is offered with seven unique battery-powertrain combinations, so it’s easy to strike the right balance between power and range. The Panamera offers fewer options, but there isn’t a bad one in the bunch.

Porsche Taycan Powertrains

The EPA has not yet evaluated the 2023 Taycan, but electric range will vary depending on which powertrain you select. In model-year 2022, a base-level Taycan with the Performance Battery Plus upgrade offered the model’s maximum range of 282 miles. We may see improvements to range in the new year, but power output will remain consistent. Check out all your options here:

  • Electric Motor with up to 402–469 horsepower (with Launch Control, Battery Dependent)
  • Electric Motor with up to 522–562 horsepower (with Launch Control, Battery Dependent)
  • Electric Motor with up to 590 horsepower and 626 lb-ft of torque (with Launch Control)
  • Electric Motor with up to 670 horsepower and 626 lb-ft of torque (with Launch Control)
  • Electric Motor with up to 750 horsepower and 774 lb-ft of torque (with Launch Control)

If you’re looking for the most power or the fastest acceleration, then the new Taycan has the edge. No Panamera E-Hybrid can match its maximum 750-hp output or its range-topping 2.6-second 0–60 time.

Porsche Panamera Powertrains

The Panamera E-Hybrid generally uses a combination of gas and electric power in order to move you forward—but you can also switch into electric mode and drive up to 31 miles without using any gasoline at all. There are three hybrid powertrain options available for the current model:

  • 2.9L Twin-Turbocharged V6 with Electric Motor: 455 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque
  • 2.9L Twin-Turbocharged V6 with Electric Motor: 552 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque
  • 4.0L V8 with Electric Motor: 690 horsepower and 641 lb-ft of torque

The new Panamera E-Hybrid offers plenty of power for the vast majority of driving scenarios you may encounter in Westlake Village or Agoura Hills. It also empowers you to use electricity when it’s convenient and rely on gasoline when the situation demands it.

Pricing: Porsche Taycan vs. Panamera E-Hybrid

Price may not be the be-all, end-all factor of this comparison, but it’s still important to note that the base-level Taycan is actually more accessible than the base-level Panamera E-Hybrid. You’ll spend about $86,700 MSRP on the former, versus $109,000 MSRP on the latter.

With that said, the two models offer similar standard features. In both, you’ll encounter a 10-speaker audio system, Wireless Apple CarPlay™, Navigation, and even Wireless Device Charging. The Taycan has a larger central touchscreen and the Panamera has a larger digital gauge display—so really, the choice is entirely up to you!
